A twenty-something student teacher college graduate; Education; Theatre Arts; Social Studies; Grades 7-12; Trying to find a school to hire me!

How hard is it for a person with an education degree (any field) to get a job? Also for a person who cannot get into the program but wants to teach, what other programs would you recommend them do?
For your first question, I think the level of difficulty for finding a job is based on a couple of factors. First, it depends on which area of education you go into. For example, in my state if you receive an education degree in Secondary Math, Secondary Science, or Special Education then you are nearly guaranteed a job upon graduation. However, there are virtually no jobs for my degree (Secondary Drama/Social Studies). In my state (and nationwide), arts education is facing severe budget cuts. So is social studies education. Second, I have been told it is quite easy to find a job regardless of your education degree if you are willing to move for your job. I am one of those people who really really wants to stay in my state or in the general vicinity. I also really want to teach in a rural community. So, I may have some difficulties finding a job since there are nearly no jobs in my content area in my state due to budget cuts.
In terms of “other” education programs, I really do not know. I have no knowledge of alternative education programs although I do know some exist. I would recommend asking another teaching tumblr by looking at the #Education tag.
I hope this helps!
